MALAYSIA - MALAYSIAN FURNITURE AND FURNISHING FAIR TO BOOST TOURISM (05.04.10)
|
The Government is targeting a boost in the tourism sector with the 2010 Malaysian Furniture and Furnishing Fair (MF3) in July.
Tourism Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ng Yen Yen said Malaysia was known as one of the largest furniture exporters in the world and such an event could help boost arrivals of international visitors to the country.
The meetings, incentives, conventions and exhibitions (MICE) segment was crucial for the tourism industry, she added.
The event organized by the Kuala Lumpur and Selangor Furniture Entrepreneur Association is expected to draw 50,000 visitors.
About 23.5 million tourists arrived last year compared to 22 million in 2008. She also said that companies intending to stage MICE events in the country could liaise and coordinate with the ministry’s MICE division which was set up to provide services to organizers in planning, packaging and promoting their events. |
