Taiwan has beaten off the challenge of nineteen other countries to host the 2011 International Design Alliance (IDA) Congress, the prestigious international event that showcases graphic, industrial and interior design and is expected to attract 3,000 elite designers from 60 countries. The 2011 IDA Congress will be held in the Taipei International Convention Centre and is the first to be held in Asia since the establishment of the International Design Alliance by the International Council of Societies of Industrial Design (Icsid), the International Council of Graphic Design Association (Icograda) and the International Federation of Interior Architects/Designers (IFI). The Taiwanese government has designated 2011 Design Year as part of the centennial celebrations for the founding of the Republic of China (Taiwan).
