USA - AARON'S RENAMES MANUFACTURING ARM WOODHAVEN (27.07.10)
|
Rent-to-own giant Aaron's Inc. is changing the name of its 11 furniture and bedding manufacturing plants from MacTavish Furniture Inds. to Woodhaven Furniture Inds.
Woodhaven was already a key brand used on the products the company makes for its stores, and also signifies Aaron's move toward more green practices in manufacturing, the company said. A rebranding effort including a new logo supports the name change.
The company said its efforts to go green include the recycling of all scrap materials, the use of sustainable wood products in furniture, the use of raw materials containing at least 15% post-consumer content, skylight panels to reduce the use of light fixtures and energy consumption, the use of wood waste for heating, and the implementation of electronic documentation processes to reduce the amount of paper used.
Aaron's said those efforts helped it reduce landfill waste at its Coolidge and Cairo, Ga., facilities by about 8 million pounds and generated a cost saving of nearly $250,000.
The Woodhaven Furniture Inds. division has 11 facilities in five states, with a 12th scheduled to open this year in Phoenix. |
